Constitution amendment bill registered in Legislature-Parliament Secreteriat
A federal commission has been proposed in the constitution amendment bill that the government registered at the Legislature-Parliament secretariat on Tuesday according to RSS.
The proposal for the federal commission has been made as per Article 287 of the Constitution. It replaces the provision in the previous bill to make changes to the boundary of the proposed Province no. 5. The bill tabled at the parliament was earlier withdrawn.
The rationale behind the new bill is for ‘making the constitution widely acceptable’, as mentioned in it. The new bill proposes amendments to 11 articles of the constitution. The new bill continues with the earlier proposed amendments related to citizenship and language.
A new proposal is to do away with the voting rights of the local units’ chief and deputy chiefs from the electoral college of the MPs of the National Assembly.
