The locals of the Kharpunath Rural Municipality-5 have blamed the cadres of Congress for breaking into the office of the food depot (sales centre) located at Yangchu on 20 December and distributed rice grains to their own cadres. The locals also complain that the distribution had to take place in front of Nepal Food Cooperation’s employees, Police Administration, representatives of local level and the contractors.

The intruders were Kharpunath Rural Municipality’s Chairperson Karna Rawal, ward no. 5’s chairperson Bhim Raj Shahi, employee of Kharpunath Health Department; Jaimal Shahi, Ramjan Shahi; employee of Prabhu Bank, member of the district committee of Nepal Congress Bhakta Bahadur Shahi, Prajan Shahi, Dhana Shahi, Sharada Shahi, Tirtha Raj Shahi, employee of District Forest Office; Bishnu Shahi, and Nepali Congress’ member of parliament Rangamati Shahi’s personal secretary Chandra Rawal as informed by Sagar Shahi, a local of the rural municipality.

According to him, they were supposed to distribute the food grains on 20 December in the presence of Nepal Food Cooperation’s employees, Police Administration, representatives of local level and the contractors at the rural municipality’s office. Meanwhile a group led by chairperson Bhim Raj Shahi forcefully entered a room which had food grains breaking the lock. Following this chairperson Karna Rawal along with his group broke into another room with food grains, shared Lokendra Shahi, a local. Chairperson Bhim Raj Shahi claimed of having a token of Nepali Congress which he used to distribute the food grains.

On the other hand, Deputy CDO Datta Raj Hamal states of not being informed about such acts. According to the locals of the rural municipality, only the Nepali Congress cadres received the food grains whereas it was meant for them all.
