Bhim Bahadur Shrestha, a conflict victim from Chautara Sagachokgadhi Municipality-8 in Irkhu, who suffered leg injuries and disability during the conflict, urged INSECto facilitate justice on November 6. The victim was at his residence when a group of 15 to 20 individuals arrived and forcibly took him on February 15, 2001.

He was subjected to physical assault with his hands tied leading to a state of unconsciousness. He was taken to B&B Hospital in Lalitpur for treatment on February 16. Bhim Bahadur expressed that he did not receive any financial support for his medical treatment during his two-year stay at B&B Hospital.

He revealed that he can still identify the four individuals responsible for his leg injuries during the conflict, and he remains disheartened as they continue to walk freely in his presence.

He informed INSEC that he has been left physically impaired and unable to walk properly as a result of the torture he endured. He expressed that he has to take medication daily, and he doesn’t have a source of income.

He mentioned that despite filing complaints with various authorities such as the District Administration Office, District Police Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, Human Rights Commission, Peace Committee, Truth and Reconciliation Commission, among others, he has not received any response or found justice through these channels. Consequently, he has sought assistance from INSEC.
