Complaint lodged against attempted murder
Rabina Khatun, 18 of Chipharmai Rural Municipality-4, Tulsiwarwa had lodged a complaint at Women and Children Service Center under District Police Office on April 5 against her 22 years old husband Sabir Miya Dhobi, 52 years old father-in-law Farjan Miya, 50 years old mother-in-la Shobha Khatun and 17 years old Nanda Najarana on charge of attempting to kill her be setting fire.
The victim said that she was set fire on the night of March 27 by the accused and was locked inside the room depriving her for treatment. She said that the accused had demanded for Dowry prior to the incident. She added that they set on fire after she denied for giving dowry.
She was attempted to expel from the house by snatching her jewelries and they set her on fire after she retaliated the attack. All family members were involved on setting her on fire, she said.
The incident was occurred on the night of March 27 however it was revealed after she ran away and seek shelter at her aunty’s house in Birgunj Metropolis-3, Chapkaiya.
Spokesperson Rajan Limbu of DPO said that the nature of the incident shows that she was deliberately set on fire by the accused.
The victim is receiving treatment after she lodged complaint at Women and children service center according to Limbu. The victim sustained several burn over her body.
Police said that the victim’s husband is at large immediately after the incident and search is on the way. The couple was married three years ago.
