Complaint Filed Against Rape Accused After INSEC’s Initiative
The victim has lodged a complaint at the District Police Office on August 28 on the initiative of INSEC Dang.
Sanchit Yadav, 21, of Rajpur Rural Municipality-5 was accused of raping a 16-year-old girl on August 19. The victim’s side had brought the accused and the girl from the house of Harinarayan Yadav at Rajpur-3 on August 19 and handed them over to the Area Police Office, Gadhwa.
The Area Police Office, Gadhwa had illegally remanded the girl till August 26 and the accused Yadav till August 28. The girl was later kept in a safe house in Ghorahi from August 26 after the INSEC district representative drew the attention of the Police regarding the incident.
The victim’s mother had requested INSEC Dang District Representative on August 25 after Inspector Bharat Singh Rathore of the Area Police Office, Gadhwa refused to accept the complaint on August 20.
According to the victim’s mother, the complaint was lodged by the District Police Office on the initiative of INSEC District Representative Jayanarayan Pun. The INSEC Provincial Office, Nepalgunj and the National Human Rights Commission, Nepalgunj also facilitated in the registration of complaint.
According to DSP Sumit Khadka of the District Police Office, the accused has been remanded in custody by the District Court. The girl has been handed over to her parents. The girl was examined at the Rapti Institute of Health Sciences on August 28 and handed over to her parents, informed the police.
