Complaint Filed Against Rape Accused
A complaint has been lodged against 22-year-old Birendra Shahi, resident of Tilagufa Municipality-11 on September 20, in accusation of raping a 16-year-old girl. The complaint was filed at the District Police Office of Kalikot. The accused is a soldier of Nepal Army.
The accused Shahi, who was working at Ransur Gulm in Kalikot, raped the girl on September 19 and threatened her not to lodge a complaint with the police. The victim had approached INSEC for help.
The victim has applied to INSEC, the secretariat of the Human Rights Help Desk, for necessary legal process and financial assistance.
According to DSP Chakra Bahadur Shah of the District Police Office, the complaint could not be registered in time as the victim had lodged a complaint against the accused and sent a letter to the Nepal Army’s Ransur Gulm.
Health checkup of the victim was conducted on September 18.
