Complaint Filed Against Accused of Physical Assault of Ward Chairperson

On August 13,  Ravindra Prasad Devkota, the ward chairperson of Bhimdatta Municipality 18, was subjected to phusyocal assualt . The incident led to the filing of a formal complaint of attempt to murder against five individuals, identified as Kamal Rokaya, Keshav Chand, Rohitjung Kunwar, Pravin Bogti, and Navin Chand, who are associated with the National Youth Union, at the District Police Office, Kanchanpur.

DSP Prakash Dangi of the District Police Office disclosed that while a complaint was lodged against total of eight individuals for their involvement in assaulting the ward chairperson, the alleged perpetrators are currently evading authorities. Despite their absence, law enforcement agencies are actively engaged in efforts to locate and apprehend them.

The incident transpired during the 10th session of the National Youth Union held on August 12 at the UML party office within the district. A dispute emerged concerning the hanging of the voter list, which escalated into a violent confrontation. In the aftermath, the leaders and workers of the union reportedly subjected Ward President Devkota to physical assault, resulting in serious head, chest, and eye injuries.

The victim, who sustained severe injuries from the beating, is currently receiving medical care at Maya Metro Hospital in Dhangadhi. Given the critical nature of his injuries, arrangements are underway to transfer him to Kathmandu for further medical treatment, underscoring the severity of the harm inflicted upon him.
