Complaint Filed Against Accused of Beating
A complaint was filed at the Area Police Office, Pato on June 17 alleging that 52-year-old Pritam Paswan from Phattepur Tole, Dakneshwari Municipality-6, Aurahi, along with six members of his family, were beaten and injured by 60-year-old Harisudan Yadav and his family from the same municipality. This complaint follows their initial report made on June 16 at the District Police Office.
Paswan, his wife Musani Devi Paswan, 50, son Ranjit, 30, daughters Ritu, 21, Rakhi, 19, and Ranjit’s wife, Sarita, 27, were injured by the beating over the issue of demolition of Paswan’s house on 15 June. Paswan had been living in his house for two decades.
It is reported that Pritam sustained a broken hand injury, while Musani and others suffered head injuries and injuries to various parts of their bodies, including the chest. Pritam, Musni, Ranjit and Rakhi are currently being treated at Chinnamasta Hospital in Rajbiraj. Likewise, Sarita and Ritu were treated at Umakanta Kalpana Memorial Hospital in Dakneshwari Municipality-5, Pato.
Pritam alleged that following a dispute over the demolition of his makeshift house built on government land near a lake for the construction of a road, Harisudan, along with his son Niraj, 35, brother Ram Narayan, 50, Ram Narayan’s son Roshan, 25, Harisudan’s nephew Bibek, Krishnananda Yadav, 30, and Rohit Yadav, 40, beat them with bamboo sticks, iron rods, and sharp weapons.
Harisudan, on the other hand, claimed that they were also injured during the dispute over self-defense when the Paswan family intervened to stop the road construction funded with a budget of Rs 40,00,000 from the Madhesh Province Government.
According to Kusheshwar Yadav, Ward Chairman of Dakneshwari Municipality-6, despite adequate space for the road, landless Dalit families were beaten and their homes forcibly demolished with the intention to evict them. Additionally, Kameshwar Prasad Yadav, a local resident, demanded strict action against the accused, highlighting that they used force with political bias. He emphasized the need to address and find a solution to the issue of demolishing the houses of landless Dalit families.
Satyanarayan Paswan from the same place expressed sadness over the displacement of landless Dalit families due to the demolition of their homes.
