Complaint Against Husband and Mother-in-Law for Alleged Domestic Violence

The 35-year-old Manju Devi of Prasauni Rural Municipality-3 Lautan filed a complaint against her husband and mother in law at the Women, Children and Senior Citizens Service Center under the District Police Office on December 3 accusing them of abuse and beating.

The victim reported that she was verbally abused and physically assaulted by her husband, 37-year-old Upendra Shah Teli, and mother-in-law, 58-year-old Shiv Kumari Sah  on December 2. The alleged abuse was centered around the victim’s having given birth to two daughters and no sons. The victim was treated at a local clinic on the same day.

65-year-old Ram Prasad Shah, father of the victim has made allegations against the accused son-in-law, claiming that he has engaged in drug use and subjected his daughter to repeated physical abuse. Additionally, he accuses his son-in-law of neglecting the daughter’s medical treatment and issuing threats of entering into another marriage. The victim is currently residing in her parent’s  home, as reported by her father.

The Inspector of Women, Children and Senior Citizens Service Center Bimala Kumari Kathayat informed that, both the victim and the accused parties are called to understand the true facts about the incident and the accused would be punished according to the law.
