Complaint Against Accused in Alleged Witchcraft-Related Assault Case

The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the Area Police Office Gaushala on November 1 alleging that 66-year-old Itaria Devi Ram of Gaushala Municipality-11,Laxminia was subjected to physical assault on accusations  of witchcraft.

On October 31, Itaria Devi Ram, along with her husband Rajindra Ram, 75, son Devendra Ram, 30, Surindra Ram, 38, daughter-in-law Sundar Devi Ram, 24, and Santolia Devi Ram, 23, were subjected to physical assault based on allegations of witchcraft.

Prakash Mahara Chairperson of Jillan Chamar Society informed that 55-year-old Ram Kewal Mahato, his wife 50-year-old Suhagin Mahato, 18-year-old daughter Lilawati Mahato, 20-year-old Labdi Mahato, 40-year-old Nathuni Yadav, her 16-year-old daughter Anjali Yadav, 12-year-old pherti Yadav, 10-year-old Seema Yadav, 26-year-old Santosh Yadav, his 24-year-old wife Manju Yadav, 60-year-old mother Pholo Devi,45-year-old Vinod Paswan, his 37-year-old wife Phulo Devi Paswan, 18-year-old daughter Rubi Paswan, 20-year-old Mamta Paswan, 16-year-old Suvi Paswan, 14-year-old Kajal Paswan, 65-year-old Kapal Yadav, Malti Yadav were involved in the beating incident.

ASI Dipendra Jaiswal informed that the victim filed a complaint against Binod Paswan, Ramkewal Mahato, Santosh Yadav, Nathuni Yadav on November 1. Among them, Binod Paswan, Santosh Yadav are now in police custody.Whereas, rest of the accused are absconding and the search is on.

The victim of the assault, Itaria Devi Ram, suffered a broken right arm, while her son Surindra Ram sustained head injuries, and her daughter-in-law Sundar Devi Ram suffered severe back injuries.

Inspector Manoj Kumar Yadav of the Area Police Office Gaushala reported that the injured individuals received initial medical treatment at the Gaushala health post and were subsequently transferred to the auxiliary hospital in Janakpur for further medical care.

Inspector Manoj Kumar Yadav revealed that the victim had previously lodged a complaint at the local police office in Gaushala, alleging that Labdi Mahato had assaulted her on October 15, following accusations of witchcraft. An investigation has been scheduled for November 3 in response to the complaint. Yadav assured that  the truth about the incident will be investigated and necessary legal action will be taken.
