Committee Formed To Investigate About The Incidences Related To Dalits In Province 2

The state government has formed a five-member investigation committee under the coordination of Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Gyanendra Kumar Yadav on September 2, to investigate the deaths of 13 Dalits in various incidents in the province.

The committee has been formed comprising Sundar Bishwakarma, Whip of the Opposition Party CPN and a member of the Committee for Monitoring Caste- Based Discrimination and Untouchability, Sunita Devi Mochi, Pramila Devi Das and Chief Member Secretary of the Provincial Police, informed Dipendra Jha, Chief Justice of Province 2.

According to the Dalit Empowerment Act passed by the provincial assembly, an investigation committee has been formed from the first meeting of the caste-based discrimination and untouchability monitoring committee chaired by provincial Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut on September 2, said Deepak Yadav, personal secretary to the chief minister. The meeting has given time to investigate the incidents and submit a report within 15 days.

Likewise, the committee also decided to recommend Rs 150 Thousand to the families of Malar Sada of Pathari Rampur of Kanchanrup Municipality-5 who died due to hunger during the lockdown, and Bhutani Devi of Saptari District Agnisair Krishna Savaran Village Municipality-6 Mahuli.

The committee also decided to provide financial support to the families of Niranjan Ram and Mitra Devi Baitha.
