Clash Between Police and Protestors, Six Police Officer Injured

A clash between protesters and the police on May 24, 2023, regarding Ganga Gurung Shrestha, 25, Kamalamai Municipality-5 Silame, at Sindhuli Hospital, injured six police officials.

The angry mob pelted stones at the police when they tried to prevent the mob from vandalizing the hospital. DSP Chiranjeevi Dahal, District Police Office, informed that six police officers were injured by the incident.

According to him, the condition of the injured is serious, and he has been transported to Kathmandu for treatment.

The injured persons are; Inspector Ram Bhakta Bhattarai, Sai Kailash Budhathoki, Police Constable Ram Bahadur Karki, Pravesh Kumar Yadav, and Assistant Constable Roshan Shrestha. Their condition is normal, while Police Assistant Constable Roshan Shrestha has injuries on his face and leg.

Police arrested Dinesh Moktan, 31, of Kamalamai Municipality-11, and Raj Magar of Kamalamai Municipality-5 in connection to the incident.

DSP Dahal informed that the police fired 28 rounds of tear gas and two rounds of air fire to control the crowd.

Meanwhile, despite the agreement between the hospital administration and the victim’s relatives, on the afternoon of May 10, the protest continues.
