Clash Between Cadres of Maoist and Congress, Six Injured

Six Nepali Congress (NC) cadres have been injured in a clash between CPN-Maoist cadres and Nepali Congress (NC) cadres at Triveni Rural Municipality-9, Nuwakot on May 5.

According to DSP Bishnu Soti of the District Police Office, Rukum West, YCL cadres attacked a group including Amar Singh Khadka, a candidate for the post of Triveni Rural Municipality’s chairperson.

The injured have been identified as Krishna Pun, 32, Bir Bahadur Oli, 28, a boy of 16, Bir Bahadur Oli, 42, another Bir Bahadur Oli, 25, and Chandra Bahadur Khadka, 30. All the injured are undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Salle Rukum.

According to DSP Soti, the police station in Nuwakot was also vandalized during the clash. He informed that the cadres had entered the police station for security during the clash and the station was vandalized when the Maoist cadres tried to beat them inside the station.

Meanwhile, a jeep (Ra 1 Cha 1262) carrying a Nepali Congress candidate for the post of chairperson was vandalized by CPN-M cadres in Triveni Municipality. After vandalizing the jeep of the Congress candidate, the cadres also vandalized the motorcycles of Janak BK, the ward chairperson candidate of the CPN (Maoist) Central Committee and Chudamani Basnet, a local leader, and cut down the banana trees. Chief of the District Police Office, DSP Bishnu Soti said that a team of Inspector Rajiv Shrestha had gone to the spot to investigate the incident.
