Citizens of Bhotekoshi Forced to Use Cable Crossing After Flood Sweeps Away Bridge
The continuous rainfall in September caused floods that swept away the bridge connecting Liping and Kodari in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2, forcing residents in the area to use a cable crossing (tuin) for transportation.
Ward Chair Kumar Shrestha of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2 stated that after the continuous rainfall in September washed away the bridge used for commuting, a cable crossing is currently being used for transportation.
The floods following the heavy rainfall also swept away two concrete bridges and two Bailey bridges within Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality. The flood in the Bhotekoshi River swept away the Larcha Bridge located in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-3. Although vehicles have been able to cross the river using a temporary pipeline bridge since 8 October, Ward Chairperson Kumar Shrestha stated that residents must continue to rely on the cable crossing until the Liping-Kodari bridge is reconstructed.
The government has declared Bhotekoshi, Jugal, Panchpokhari, Balefi Rural Municipalities, and Barhabise Municipality as disaster-affected areas among the 12 local levels in the district.
