Senior citizens, single women, children, and persons with disabilities of Chandannath Municipality have complained of being deprived of their social security allowance since September 2020.

They have complained that the people’s representatives and employees have not shown any interest in distributing the allowance for the past eight months.

There are 720 senior citizens, 345 single women, 1,373 children, and 166 persons with disabilities in Chandannath Municipality.

Senior citizens above 60 years of age are entitled to NRs. 2,000 per month and those above 70 years of age are entitled to NRs.  2,000 as allowance and additional NRs. 1,000 for medical expenses. Similarly, single women are provided with NRs. 2,000 per month and children are given NRs.  400 per month.

According to Rajendra Bhandari, Chief of the Social Security branch of Chandannath Municipality, the distribution of social security allowance has been delayed due to insufficient amount from the ministry. He said that the amount has been demanded from the ministry and it will be distributed as soon as it is received.
