Child Marriage Stopped by Young Girls circle

A child marriage fixed for November 30 at Salena VDC has been stopped by the members of young girls circle.

The young girls circle had requested District Police Office, District Administration Office and District Child Club coalition of the district to stop the child marriage after getting the information of child marriage at Salena according to Kunti Bhatta , secretary of the circle.

After getting the information of marriage between 14 years old girl and 16 years old boy, the police and young girls circle had a talk with the family members and stopped the marriage according to Bhatta.

The all party assembly held at the VDC had committed to stop child marriage in the VDC and since then the trend has been decreasing according to Bhatta.

The young girls of the circle said that they had informed the stakeholders after the child bride had urged the circle to stop the marriage.

Child marriage is illegal in Nepal and if some one is involved in child marriage they will be brought under the legal boundary according to District Police Office. In Baitadi district there are 58 percent of child marriage incident.
