Chairperson of Rural Municipality, Accused of Physical Assault
Ram Bahadur Gurung, Chairperson of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-8, has been accused of assaulting Amrit Bhandari, Chairperson of Khora Ko Mukh Upallo Edi Consumer Committee, on July 2, 2023.
According to Chairman Bhandari, the altercation occurred during a heated exchange concerning the protracted construction delay of a road section overseen by the consumer committee. During the argument, Gurung allegedly directed verbal abuse towards Bhandari and physically beat him by delivering punches.
In response to the allegations, Gurung maintained that his remarks were of a general nature and no physical altercations took place. Nevertheless, Chairperson Bhandari filed a formal complaint at the District Administration Office on July 2, urging authorities to respond appropriately against Ward Chairperson Gurung.
