  April 22, 2021 By: INSEC

The conflict-era case against Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota is yet to be heard in the Supreme Court. However, the latter date of the hearing has not been specified.

It is said that even though Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JBR took the floor in the constitutional bench headed by him, he could not look into the case due to the pressure of other issues .

Apart from Rana, judges Deepak Kumar Karki, Meera Khadka, Harikrishna Karki and Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada are also in the Constitutional Court.

Even before this, the issue was pending for trial time and again.

Arjun Lama’s wife Purnimaya Lama had filed a case in 2064 BS alleging that Sapkota was involved in the murder of her husband, who was abducted and killed during the Maoist armed conflict.

Human rights activist Sushil Pyakurel and others had filed a case against Sapkota in 2068 BS.

Earlier, the hearing was adjourned on March 13, 2020, and was postponed with the same reason.
