By-election to be Held for Ward Chairperson in Sirijanga Rural Municipality
The by-election for Ward Chairperson in Sirijanga Rural Municipality-3, Sikaicha, has been scheduled for December 1, 2024. The election was scheduled after Ward Chairperson Dil Prasad Bokhim, who had gone abroad for employment, sent his resignation letter from Hong Kong following pressure from residents.
Acting District Election Officer Bandhav Raj Dulal stated that the Election Commission, in its decision to hold by-elections in other locations, has also decided to conduct a by-election for the Ward Chairperson of Sirijanga Rural Municipality-3, Sikaicha. The Commission has issued a circular to the District Election Office, Taplejung, to proceed. Dulal added that, like other locations set for by-elections, the District Election Office will now proceed with the program for the by-election in Sikaicha as well. Additionally, the election officer will be appointed on November 11, 2024, for the by-election, and the establishment of the election officer’s office is scheduled for November 15, 2024.
The Election Commission decided on October 27, 2024, to conduct by-elections for Sikaicha Ward Chairperson and other places.
