Bill regarding the rights of person with disability Tabled in parliament

The meeting of legislative parliament held on October 18 has  tabled the bill ina parliament regarding the rights of a person with disability, 2072.

Law, justice and Parliamentry affair minister AJaya Shanker Nayak had presented the bill for decision in parliament on behalf of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

While taking part in a discussion session on the presented bill, CA member Dr Subodh Pokhrel of CPN UML accused that the presented bill do not address about the  classification and economic and social empowerment of person with disability.

CA member Guru Prasad Burlakoti of CPN UML demanded to clarify the defination of Disability and added that its definition is vague while distributing social security allowances.CA member Prem Suwal of Nepal labour and peasant party said that government must operate special program and hand over the work to local guild.

Answering the questions raised by the CA members, law minister Nayak said that the bill was tabled to end the discrimination on person with disability. He added that the bill was issued as per the international criterion.

If this bill is passed, it will replace 34 years old Disability Protection and welfare Act 2039  according to branch staff Krishna Bhattarai of Children and Women welfare Ministry.
