Bagmati Flood Caused Damage to Vishwa Niketan Secondary School (Photo Feature)

Vishwa Niketan Secondary School, located behind the passport department in Tripureshwor, has suffered significant damage due to the Bagmati flood that occurred on September 28, following incessant rain. The flood has severely impacted the ground floor of the school.

According to the school administration, students from nursery to class three will have a holiday until Chhath due to the flood’s damage. Principal Herambaraj Kandel stated that the flood from the Bagmati River, caused by heavy rains, entered the school and resulted in significant damage. He noted that the torrents of floodwaters, accompanied by incessant rains, have damaged 50 computers, benches, desks, and other equipment in the school. According to school teacher Dilliram Poudel, educational materials have been destroyed due to the floods. “You can’t sit in the classroom because of the flood and mud. That’s why we have given leave until Chhath,” he said.

The principal, Herambraj Kandel, stated that the education of 342 students had been affected, including 53 in nursery, 45 in LKG, 39 in UKG, 35 in Section A of Class One, 36 in Section B, 31 in Section A of Class Two, 32 in Section B, 36 in Section A of Class Three, and 35 in Section B. The school’s teacher, Gita Basnet, stated that the Metropolitan City assisted them in clearing the floodwaters that had entered the school.
