Attack of Maoist Cadres; Four Injured Including Ward Chairperson

Chandra Bahadur Budha Sagar, 42, candidate for ward chairperson from Aathabiskot Municipality-8, Ranabahadur Bohara, 33, ward chairperson of Nepali Congress and ward member candidate, and Congress cadres Mangne Budha, 32, Lal Bahadur Budha, 42, and Amar Bohara, 58, were injured.

Injured Amar Bohara alleged that the Maoist cadres attacked him while he was staying at Amar Bohara’s house to advise him on the election campaign. He further added that after the attack the cadres had locked themselves inside the house but the cadres intruded into the house through the window and vandalized the kitchen.

The party had alleged that Chandra Bahadur Budha Sagar, the candidate for ward chairperson had joined Congress by leaving Maoists and attacked them to seek revenge.

Injured Amar Bohara alleged that a group of CPN-Maoist cadres Ajay Chanara, Manoj Chanara, Gopal BK, Hari Chanara and Tilak Chanara of Aathabiskot Municipality-8 had attacked them.

Chief of the District Police Office, Rukum West, DSP Bishnu Prasad Soti informed that Ranabaahadur sustained serious head injuries and other cadres sustained minor injuries.

He said details of the attackers had not been officially received but that a search had been launched on the basis of a verbal complaint.

The injured are being treated at Aathabiskot Municipal Hospital, said Municipal Hospital Chief Dhananjay Rijal.
