Assistance Provided by INSEC to Victims of Domestic Violence

INSEC Sudurpaschim Province Office, Dhangadhi, has provided financial assistance to three women victims of domestic violence to assist them in the judicial process on December 21.

Jankidevi Chowdhury,35, of Kailari Rural Municipality-7, Ratanpur, Dharmashila Singh, 58, Tikapur Municipality-2 Vandipur and Diksha Gautam,45, of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-3, Bhansar Road have received the assistance to ease their legal proceedings.

Due to a lack of finances, the victims of domestic violence have been struggling to keep up with court dates after filing a complaint in the district court. Advocacy Forum recommended to the Human Rights Help Desk, INSEC Sudurpaschim Provincial Office provided to such victims. The Help Desk provided 10,000 rupees as financial support.

Advocacy Forum Coordinator Pushpa Bikram Shahi said that since the three victims are in the process of partition and divorce in the district court, the victims are struggling to get dates as they are struggling to afford transportation costs.

INSEC Sudurpaschim Province Coordinator Khadakraj Joshi said that INSEC has been providing financial support through the Human Rights Help Desk. The main goal of the Help Desk is to ensure access to justice for the victims.

Devi Khanal, the coordinator of the Human Rights Support Cell Fund Management Committee, said that by giving a small amount of support to the victims from this fund, the victims have easy access to justice.

Diksha Gautam, the victim, expressed her gratitude to INSEC saying that due to the financial support provided by INSEC, it will be easy for them to get justice and this support is a  great relief in the situation of financial shortage.
