Arrest Warrant Issued Against the District Judge in the Accusation of Rape
An arrest warrant has been issued against a District Judge at Kapilvastu District Court, Bhuwan Giri, 48, in the accusation of rape of a 39-year-old woman.
According to the District Police Office, the district court issued an arrest warrant on 3 April 2023.
Even though the victim filed a complaint against Judge Giri on the 18 November 2022 on the charge of rape, the police registered it only on 27 February 2023.
The victim filed a complaint at the National Women Commission, National Human Rights Commission and Judicial Council along with the District Police Office.
After the victim filed an application at the Judicial Council, the Council called Judge Giri to Kathmandu.
SP of the District Police Office, Prem Bahadur Basnet said that he couldn’t comment on whether an arrest warrant has been issued against the Judge Bhuwan Giri.
