Arrest Made in Witchcraft Accusation-Related Abuse Incident
Police arrested Bipna Shrestha, a 31-year-old resident of Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-6 in Ghairung, on September 21 for the charge of allegedly insulting and accusing Maiya Shrestha of being a witch.
The female victim lodged a formal complaint at the district police office on September 21, 2023, alleging that she had been labeled a witch and abused on September 15.
Ramesh Kumar Shrestha, DSP, District Police Office, Gorkha informed that the accused was arrested based on the complaint filed by the victim, and a case was registered in the district court on September 21 under the title of witch accusation.
