After School Building Collapse: Local Homes Destroyed, Others at Risk of Landslides

In Raghuganga Rural Municipality-4, Dagnam, Indraman Thajali’s home, along with the Janata Secondary School building, has been destroyed. Gun Pun, a teacher at Janata Secondary School in Dagnam, reported that the house was destroyed due to the collapse of the school building during the earthquake. Despite the incident occurring in the morning when the school premises were vacant, the house suffered total devastation.

Jhalak Sharma from Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2 reports that Indraman’s daughter-in-law, Ashu Thajali, and grandson, Genis Thajali, sustained minor injuries.

According to Information Officer and Police Inspector Rajan Rayamajhi of Myagdi District Police Office, Indraman’s residence suffered damage due to the collapse of the school building.

Similarly, in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-7, Chimkhola, the two-story residence of 55-year-old Dil Bahadur Tilija is at high risk, prompting his family of five to seek shelter in a neighbor’s home. Lal Bahadur Pajja, 56, and Dil Bahadur Pun, 54, face similar risks, leading their families to find safer accommodations.

Inspector Rayamajhi reported that 55-year-old Nar Bahadur Garbuja lost his 12 goats and the goat shed to landslide. Similarly, Inspector Rayamajhi noted that 69-year-old Dek Bahadur Karai Pun’s goat shed and five beehives were also damaged. Additionally, a two-story community building was damaged due to the collapse, according to the police report.
