Accused Sentenced to 18 Years Imprisonment for Statutory Rape
The District Court sentenced 23-year-old Karna Bahadur Maski Magar of Bhanu Municipality-9, Badahare to 18 years of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 7,00,000, Rs 1,00,000 as compensation and Rs 28,000 to the victim’s relief fund for the crime of raping an 11-year-old minor.
Registrar Keshav Paudel of the District Court informed that the bench of Judge Chandrakumar Pokharal on 30 June found the accused guilty and gave the following verdict.
The aggrieved party had filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Bhanu on 3 October, 2023 alleging that the accused raped girl on 6 September, 2023 . The police arrested the accused on the same day the complaint was filed.
After the District Public Prosecutor’s Office registered a case against the accused on 11 October, he was sent for pre-trial detention following the order of the District Court on 13 October.
