Accused Sentenced to 18 Years Imprisonment for Crime of Rape
The District Court has sentenced a 16-year-old boy to 18 years in prison for the crime of raping a 14-year-old girl. Registrar Damodar Ghimire of the District Court informed that the bench of Judge Tej Narayan Paudel on November 27 found the juvenile guilty and sentenced him to 18 years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 480,000.
Since the offender is a minor, one-third of the sentence has been reduced, resulting in a 12-year imprisonment and a decision to provide compensation of Rs 480,000 to the victim. The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the District Police Office on July 27, alleging that the girl was raped on July 26, 2023. The police arrested the juvenile on 27 July.
The health examination of the girl was done on July 27 at Rapti Academy of Health, and Science, Ghorahi.
