Accused Sentenced to 18-year Imprisonment for Statutory Rape
The District Court sentenced 75-year-old Padam Bahadur Khanal of Rambha Rural Municipality-4 to 18 years imprisonment for the crime of raping a 12-year-old girl. The bench of District Court Judge Dal Bahadur KC on 12 November sentenced Khanal to 18 years of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 700,000, according to District Court Registrar Keshav Parajuli. The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the District Police Office on April 30, stating that Khanal had raped the victim on March 19, 2024. The police arrested Khanal on the same day.
The health examination of the victim was conducted at Palpa Hospital on April 30.
