Accused Sentenced to 12-year Imprisonment for Statutory Rape
Bardiya District Court has sentenced 43-year-old Jangat Wali Chhetri of Bangad Kupinde Municipality-7, Salyan to 12 years imprisonment for the crime of raping a 14-year-old girl.
Amrita KC, branch officer and information officer of the District Court informed that the bench of Judge Manoj Shrestha on November 10 sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment, along with a compensation of Rs 50,000, a fine of Rs 5,00,000 Rs 20,000 to the victim relief fund.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the local police office, Baniyanbhar on June 20 alleging that the girl was raped on June 14, 2024. Subsequently, Chhetri was arrested on 20 June. The medical examination of the victim was done on 20 June at Bardiya Hospital, Gulariya.
