Accused Sentenced to 12-year-imprisonment for Statutory Rape
The District Court sentenced 19-year-old Amus Tudu of Sivasatakshi Municipality-9 to 12-year-imprisonmnent for the crime of raping a 15-year-old girl. The Information Officer Ramchandra Basnet informed that the bench of the District Court Judge Tejbahadur Khadka on 4 September sentenced him to the imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5,00,000, and Rs 50,000 compensation to the victim.
A complaint regarding the case was filed at the Area Police Office Jhiljhile on 5 March alleging that the accused had raped the victim on 23 February. Police arrested the accused on 6 March and registered a case under the charge of rape at the District Court on 26 March. The Court subsequently sent the accused for pre-trial detention on the same day.
The health examination of the victim was done on 5 March at the Mechi Provincial Hospital.
