Accused Sentenced to 12-year-imprisonment for Crime of Rape
The District Court has sentenced 21-year-old Sunil Magar of Triyuga Municipality-7 Kalikhola to 12 years imprisonment for the crime of raping a 15-year-old girl. Registrar Bhesraj Bhattarai of the District Court informed that the bench of Judge Harishchandra Ingnam, on September 30, ordered the accused to pay a fine of Rs 500,000, Rs 50,000 as compensation, and Rs 2,800 to the victim’s relief fund, along with imprisonment.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office on April 23 alleging the accused raped the minor on April 18, 2024. The police subsequently arrested Magar from his home on April 23, 2024 and registered a case under the charge of rape in the district court on May 12, 2024. The bench of District Court Judge Dipak Kumar Kharel on 13 May sent the accused for pre-trial detention.
The health examination of the victim was done at the district hospital on April 23.
