Accused Sentenced to 10-year Imprisonment for the Crime of Rape
The District Court sentenced 21-year-old Lakshman BK of Chhatreshwari Rural Municipality-2, Salyan to 10 years imprisonment for the crime of raping a 16-year-old girl. District Court Judge Pratima Kumari Bhattarai Pokhrel’s bench on 13 November found the accused guilty and sentenced her to 10 years of imprisonment, a compensation of Rs 500,000, Rs 50,000 as fine, and Rs 1,800 to be deposited into the victim’s relief fund, according to Damodar Ghimire.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Tulsipur on April 6 stating that accused had raped the victim on January 30, 2023. The accused was arrested by the police on April 9.
The health examination of the victim was done on April 6 at Rapti Provincial Hospital, Tulsipur.
