Accused of Trafficking and Hostage Keeping Arrested
Police have arrested Niru Timalsina, 40, on September 7, 2022, on the charge of trafficking a 19-year-old girl.
Police raided the Niharika Hotel and Lodge located at Hetauda Sub-metropolitan city-10 on September 7, based on the information that a young woman was taken hostage and forced into prostitution.
A team of police and human rights workers rescued the victim and placed her in a safe house, and she was handed over to her relatives on September 9, said Maya Lama, the program coordinator of Maiti Nepal.
DSP Tek Bahadur Karki of the District Police Office said that hotel owner Niru Timalsina was arrested and a case was registered on September 8 for human trafficking and transportation offences.
