Accused of Statutory Rape Arrested
A 41-year-old stepfather was arrested on December 4 on charges of raping an 11-year-old girl, according to Assistant Sub-Inspector Hastikumari Basnet, Boudha Police. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City stated that the accused was arrested based on confidential information, which revealed that he had been raping the victim for the past two years.
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City rescued an 11-year-old girl and her two younger brothers, aged 9 and 7, following reports that they were unsafe at home due to their stepfather. This information was shared by Rasala Tandukar, coordinator of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Child Rescue Task Force.
The victim underwent a medical examination at the Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital in Thapathali on December 4.
Given that the victim’s school falls within the jurisdiction of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the rescue was conducted as part of the city’s coordinated efforts. The authorities confirmed that the three children have been placed in temporary protective care.
