Accused of Sexual Abuse Arrested
Police have arrested Mahesh Singh Thagunna, 25, of Naugad Rural Municipality-4 on September 2, 2021, on the charge of sexually abusing an 11-year-old. Police have filed a case against the accused through the Public Prosecutor’s Office on September 3.
The victim’s father told INSEC that he had lodged a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office on September 2 after the victim had been informed about the incident only after three days. The victim was abused on August 30 on the day of the Gaura Festival.
Inspector Narendra Bahadur Chand of the District Police Office told INSEC that the accused was arrested immediately after the victim lodged the complaint at the District Police Office.
According to Inspector Chand, the accused has been kept in police custody and further investigation is underway.
Dr. Adarsh Limbu told the INSEC representative that the victim was examined at the District Hospital, Darchula on September 2.
