Accused of Rape Arrested after 17 Years
Md. Jabul Miya, 42, of Rajbiraj Municipality-9, Mlethaka, has been arrested on 2 April in the charge of rape of a 14-year-old girl.
Information officer Bharatmani Pokhrel informed that the arrested accused has been sent to the prison on 3 April to serve the sentence.
The victim had filed a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office on 27 February 2006 stating that the accused raped her the same day. Police had registered the complaint on 28 February following a medical examination. The case was lodged at the court on 31 March 2006 and an arrested warrant was issued against the absconding accused.
As per the information officer Pokhrel, the court decided to sentence the accused to six years of imprisonment after reviving the two-year’s halted case on 3 April 2014.
