Accused of Rape Arrested
Agni Prasad Dhamala Sharma, 55, of Bistawada in Sinja Rural Municipality-2 has been on June 7 on the charge of raping a 37-year-old woman. Police arrested the accused from his house.
According to the complaint, the accused Sharma raped the victim while she was on her way to Kathmandu from Jumla via Nepalgunj on August 6, 2021, for treatment. The victim had lodged a complaint at the Balaju Police Circle in Kathmandu on August 11, 2021, alleging rape.
Accused Sharma was absconding. According to Jumla DSP Narendra Chand, an arrest warrant has been issued by the Kathmandu District Court on April 18, 2022. He said that the absconding accused was arrested by the District Police Office and a team from Naraakot Police Station.
The accused was airlifted to Kathmandu from Jumla via Nepalgunj on June 7, informed the police.
