Accused of Mutilation and Beating of Woman Arrested
On July 24, Sant Bahadur Magar, a 25-year-old resident of Dhading Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-10 Dunge, was arrested by Ward Police Office ,Vaidam ,Pokhara on serious charges of assaulting and robbing a 24-year-old woman. The victim, who currently resides in Pokhara but originally hails from Gorkha Gandak Rural Municipality-7, was found in a critical condition, lying in a pool of blood at 18 Gufadanda in Pokhara sub-metropolitan city on July 22 at 7 am.
The woman sustained severe injuries to her head and right eye as a result of the brutal attack. During the investigation and inquiries with the injured woman, it was revealed that the accused had used an iron hammer and a sharp knife to inflict injuries on various parts of her head and right eye. The motive behind the attack appears to be robbery, as the accused allegedly stole Rs. 4,000 in cash and the victim’s mobile phone after assaulting her, leaving her injured and abandoned.
Upon receiving the victim’s statement, the police promptly arrested Sant Bahadur Magar in connection with the incident. The case is currently under investigation, and the District Court Kaski has extended the deadline for further inquiry into the matter of beating or mutilation against the accused.
The victim is currently receiving medical treatment at the Paschimanchal Regional Hospital as she continues to recover from the severe injuries sustained during the attack. The authorities are ensuring that proper medical attention is provided to her during her recovery process.
