Accused of Attempt to Murder Arrested
Police have arrested Ujjwal Chanara, 42, of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan-9 on June 28 on the charge of trying to kill his wife Maya Shrestha, 28, by sprinkling petrol in her room.
According to the victim, the accused had sprinkled petrol in the room, set it on fire and locked the room.
DSP Shyamu Aryal informed that the accused was arrested on the basis of verbal information while the victim had lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Tulsipur on June 29.
Shrestha sustained injuries and burns in both hands. She has been undergoing treatment at Rapti Provincial Hospital since June 28.
As per the victim’s complaint, the accused had been beating and torturing her from a long time and this was his second attempt to kill her.
