Accused of Killing Arrested

Police have arrested Amar Raut 23, on the charge of killing his wife Puja Singh, 22, of Karjanha Municipality-7. The accused was arrested on March 4, 2022 by Area Police Office, Mirchaiya.

Amar had been living abroad and had met Puja online. They had married each other at Bhadrakali Temple of Kathmandu on February 10, 2022, after Amar returned from Qatar on January 27.

After the marriage, Amar had gone to Siraha to convince his family members but had not returned for a while. Puja had then gone to Karjanha to search for Amar on February 28.

According to DSP Subhash Budhathoki, in the initial investigation of the police, Puja had contacted Amar after she reached Karjanha and instead of taking her home, he had taken her to Kamala Khola of the same ward. Amar had then suffocated her to death on March 1.

He further added that Amar’s wedding was fixed with somebody else on March 3 and Puja’s arrival could have ruined it, therefore he killed her.

Mukesh Poddar, brother of the deceased filed a complaint against the accused at the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya on March 3.

The post-mortem of the body was conducted at Ram Kumar Umaprasad Memorial Hospital in Lahan on March 4.

According to DSP Budhathoki, the search is on for those who had assisted him in the murder.
