Accused of Human Trafficking Arrested

Police arrested 29-year-old Lokendra Badu, originally from Darchula, Byas Municipality-6, Huti and 37-year-old Kanchimaya Ghising of Hariwan Municipality-2, Sarlahi both currently residing at Tokha Municipality-9, Kathmandu on 30 April for the charge of trafficking a 17 and a 18-year old girl.

A verbal complaint was filed at the Anti Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal Police on 30 April alleging that the accused had threatened and forced the victims to get involved in sexual activities in a Hotel naming ‘Surkhet Khajaghar’ in Tokha Municipality-9.

SP Gautam Mishra,  the Spokesperson of the Bureau informed INSEC that the accused were arrested on the same day on the basis of the complaint filed. The victims were subsequently rescued and sent to a safe house.

S.P. Gautam further stated that the accused have been remanded in custody after the district court extended the date for five days on May 1. The investigation into the incident is going on.

The Health examination of the victims was done on 30 April at Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital,Thapathali.
