Accused of Child Sexual Abuse Sentenced to Six Months Imprisonment
The district court sentenced Ankh Bahadur Shahi, 27, resident of Himal Rural Municipality-1, Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitian City-18, on 30 March 2023, to six months imprisonment on the charge of child sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl.
According to District Court Registrar, Tirtharaj Bhatta, District Court judge Devkumar Giri’s bench imposed a fine of 5,000 rupees with a payable compensation of 20,500 rupees to the victim in addition to imprisonment,
The victim filed a complaint against the accused at the district police office on 24 May 2022, accusing Shahi of sexually abusing the victim on 23 May 2022
The police arrested the accused on 24 May 2022 and registered a case of sexual abuse in the district court on 16 June 2022 through the public prosecutor’s office.
The medical examination of the victim was done on 24 May 2022 at Bheri Hospital.
