Accused of Attacking Election Candidates Arrested
Purbahadur Rawat, District Secretary of the CPN-Unified Socialist and Khadak Bohora, a candidate for the post of ward chairperson, who were attacked by Nepali Congress’ cadres Keshab Karki of Budhinanda Municipality-7 and Narendra Sarki of the same Budhinanda Municipality-9 have been arrested by the police on May 6.
The arrested accused are being investigated, said Inspector Bindra Bogati of the District Police Office.
Rawat, who sustained arm and hand injuries from the attack with a knife is undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Bajura.
He told INSEC representatives that after the attack of Nepali Congress cadres he had gone to Pandausen police station for protection and the accused entered and vandalized the police station.
According to DSP Charthubhuj Ojha of the District Police Office, the police had to fire 16 rounds in the air to control the situation.
According to Inspector Bogati of the District Police Office, the cadres vandalized and attacked the police station after the cadres of the socialist party reached the police station to seek protection.
