Accused Arrested for Sexually Abusing a Minor
Police arrested 58-year-old Sukadev Rana of Jugeda, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-10, on November 17 for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl. The incident reportedly occurred on August 12, when the accused took the victim inside a mill and sexually abused her. The victim informed her grandmother, and the matter was brought to the attention of the Bhalmansa (chief of the Tharu community) on August 13. In their presence, the accused admitted to the crime and agreed to pay Rs 400,000 to the victim. Ward Chairperson Shivakumar Rana of Dhangadhi Metropolitan City-10 stated that although efforts were made to settle the incident through the agreement, the victim’s family filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Kailali, on August 18 after the accused’s sons refused to pay the agreed compensation amount.
Inspector Lokendra Singh Karki of the District Police Office, Kailali, stated that the accused was arrested from his house on August 18 based on the same complaint, and the investigation is ongoing. The health examination of the victim was conducted on August 18 at Seti Provincial Hospital, Dhangadhi.
