Accused Arrested for Mistreatment
Police arrested Amar Khadka, 29, Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal,Dang on charges of mistreatment against 60-year-old Dharma Bahadur Basnet and his 57-year-old wife Madhawa Basnet of Ghorahi sub-metropolitan City-15. SP Arjun Kumar Timilsina of the District Police Office informed that the police arrested the individual from Duikholi, Ghorahi Sub-Municipality-19, on January 1 while he was coming from Rolpa to Dang. The Basnet couple was attacked on November 21, 2024, by unknown individuals who cut the upper part of their nose with a sharp weapon, causing injury. The victim reported that a group of five to seven people attacked them while they were out for a morning walk.
The victims received medical treatment on November 21 at the Rapti Academy of Health Science. Dharma Bahadur Basnet was accused of exploiting the public with high-interest loans. On November 21, CPN District Secretary Amar Khadka issued a statement, warning Basnet and taking responsibility for the incident. SP Timilsina confirmed that Khadka, who was arrested, is in custody, and the investigation has started.
