Accused Arrested After 18 Years for Killing Woman
Police arrested 48-year-old Shubhanarayan Yadav and 64-year-old Badrinath Adhikari on February 16 for the charges of killing 35-year-old Phulodebi Yadav of Kamalpur, Surunga Municipality-2. Inspector Manish Shrestha stated that the accused were arrested for poisoning Phulodebi Yadav to death at the house of Shubhanarayan Yadav, in Babana of Hardiya, Surunga Municipality-2. According to Inspector Shrestha, the body of the victim was found on the bank of a local river on September 3, 2006.
The post-mortem was conducted at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan on September 4, 2006. The investigation revealed that Phulodebi Yadav was killed over an inter-caste love marriage with Kisundev Mahato. Kisundev Mahato filed a complaint at the District Police Office on September 4, 2006. The accused remained absconding for 18 years before their arrest. The Saptari police have initiated legal proceedings against them.
