Accused Arrested for Killing Daughter
Police arrested 21-year-old Pramila Bhandari of Panauti Municipality-3 in Kavre, currently living in Dalchoki, Konjyosom Rural Municipality-3,on September 9 for the charge of killing her 23-month-old daughter.
Pramila filed a complaint at the Chapagaon police circle reporting that her 23-month-old daughter went missing from their home on August 11 at 5 pm. During the search, the girl’s body was found in the Tosne River near her house in Silingebesi at around 8:30 am on August 12. The police reported that the body was found stuck in the branch of a tree in the river. The post-mortem was done at Patan Hospital on August 12, according to the hospital’s director, Dr. Ravi Shakya.
Nareshraj Subedi, SP of Lalitpur Police Circle, reported that the investigation into the suspicious nature of the body and the post-mortem report found that the mother killed her daughter. According to Subedi, the mother admitted to killing her daughter and then disposing of the body in the river after the child fainted from being hitted by her.
