Accused Arrested for Human Trafficking
Police arrested 61-year-old Bhakta Bahadur Bista, formerly of Gutu Rural Municipality-6 and now of Chaukune Municipality-7, on 15 October 2024. He is accused of trafficking a 21-year-old woman after marrying her and selling her in Gorakhpur, India.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the District Police Office on 28 November 2000, stating that the accused married the 21-year-old woman on 17 September 2000 and sold her for Rs 15,000 in Gorakhpur, India. The victim underwent a health examination at the district hospital on 28 November 2000. According to DSP Birendra Bir Bishwakarma of the District Police Office, the victim woman has been deceased for 11 years.
