Accused Arrested for Crime of Rape
Police arrested 18-year-old Birendra Shahi of Tanjakot rural municipality-4, Humla, currently studying at a polytechnic school located in Chautara Sangachokgadi Municipality-5 on September 18 for the charge of raping 15-year-old girl.
DSP of the District Police Office Niranjan Bhattarai stated that the accused was arrested for further investigation based on the complaint filed by the victim’s uncle at the District Police Office on 17 September 2024. It was alleged that the accused had raped the victim on 31 March 2024. The health examination of the victim was done on September 18 at Chautara Hospital. The incident became public after it was found out that the victim was pregnant after being raped.
